1. How to request that your account be deleted
You can request deletion yourself from inside Dukanam. This is the fastest route and needs no reply from us.
- Open the Dukanam app, or sign in at dukanam.com.
- Go to Profile from the account menu.
- Scroll to Delete account and tap Delete account.
- Read what will be erased, enter your password, type DELETE to confirm, and submit.
You will receive an email confirming the date your account will be erased.
If you cannot sign in
Email [email protected] with the subject Dukanam account deletion request, from the email address registered on the account. Tell us the account email address and the workspace name. We will verify that you control the account before we act, and may ask you one or two questions to do so. Do not send us your password.
2. What happens, and when
A deletion request is held for 7 days before anything is erased. This exists only so that an accidental request, or one made by someone else who had access to your device, can still be reversed. During those days your account keeps working normally, and you can cancel the deletion from the same Profile → Delete account screen.
Push notifications to your devices stop as soon as the request is made.
When the holding period ends, the deletion runs and cannot be undone by you or by us. We email you at the address on record to confirm it is done. Deleted content is also removed from our routine backups as those backups expire on their normal cycle.
If you want a copy of your business records, download them from Reports before you request deletion. We cannot produce them afterwards.
3. Data that is deleted
When the deletion runs, all of the following is permanently erased:
- Your account: name, email address, phone number, password, and email verification state.
- Access and devices: every browser sign-in session, every mobile app token, any pending password-reset link, and the Firebase push notification token and device details registered for your devices.
- Every workspace you own, and all of its records: customers and suppliers, items and stock, invoices, quotations, purchase orders, purchase invoices, sales and purchase returns, recurring invoices, payments, expenses, ledgers and journals, stock movements, cash registers and cash sessions, bank and payment account records, reconciliations, reminders, GST reconciliation imports and compliance records.
- Uploaded files: your business logo, product photos, product import files, GST return files, and licences or other compliance evidence you uploaded.
- Your submissions: testimonials, private improvement requests, complaints, suggestions, and their uploaded photos or screenshots. An approved testimonial is removed from the public store page and API.
- Team records: your membership of any workspace, and any invitations addressed to your email.
There is no archive copy and no hidden or “soft deleted” copy left behind in our systems.
4. Data that is kept, and for how long
Two categories of record survive a deletion. Google Play permits this where retention is required for legal compliance, security or fraud prevention, and we set out both here so you can see exactly what remains.
| What is kept | Why | Retention period |
|---|---|---|
| GST tax invoices that Amvention issued to you for paid Dukanam subscriptions, including the billing name, address and GSTIN recorded on the invoice, the amount and the payment reference. | Indian tax law requires the seller to retain its own GST sales records. These are Amvention's accounting records of a sale to you, not your business data. | 8 years from the end of the relevant financial year. |
| Security and audit records of significant actions, with your user account detached so the entry no longer identifies you. | Security, fraud prevention and the integrity of other businesses' records. | Retained while relevant to security, then removed on our normal log cycle. |
If you never bought a paid subscription, no billing records exist and nothing in the first row applies to you.
Routine encrypted backups may still contain deleted data until they expire on their normal cycle. Backups are not used to restore a deleted account.
5. If you share a workspace with other people
Dukanam workspaces can have several users. What happens depends on your role:
- If you own the workspace, deleting your account destroys that workspace and its records for everyone in it. Staff and administrators you invited will lose access and their work. The confirmation screen names each workspace and how many people it affects before you commit. If your team needs the records, export them first.
- If you are a staff member or administrator in someone else's workspace, deleting your account removes your access and your own testimonial and private feedback submissions. The workspace and its business records belong to the owner and are unaffected.
Records that a business recorded about its customers and suppliers belong to that business, which is responsible for them as described in our Privacy Policy. If you are the customer of a shop that uses Dukanam and you want your details removed from that shop's books, contact the shop directly; we cannot delete a business's records on a third party's instruction.
