Check the source documents and item movement history after each step. A warehouse transfer changes the location, not the total. A payment changes the balance; it is not another stock receipt or sale.
Set up quantities you can reconcile.
- Identify each item. Use a clear name, SKU or barcode and a consistent unit. Count the opening quantity rather than estimating it from past sales.
- Record the supplier receipt. Check item quantity and purchase cost against the delivery. Keep supplier payments separate from the receipt quantity.
- Check a normal sale. Search by item name, SKU or barcode, save the sale and confirm the stock reduction and customer payment.
- Set the reorder level. Review the low-stock list against current stock and supplier lead time. Enabled reminders can notify permitted workspace members; they do not buy stock automatically.
- Review discrepancies. Compare a physical count with recorded movements. Use the supported adjustment workflow and retain the reason for a correction.

On eligible plans, warehouse transfers separate location stock, serial tracking identifies individual units, and batch tracking records lots and expiry dates. An item uses serial or batch tracking, not both. These features do not establish specialist regulatory compliance.

What should stock management software do for a small business?

Is Dukanam stock management available on the free plan?
Basic inventory follows the active plan’s item limit. Check the current plan table and pricing page. Returns, warehouse transfers, batch tracking and serial tracking have separate feature gates; free registration does not unlock every workflow.
Can I move stock between a counter and godown?
On a plan with warehouse stock, record transfers between locations in the same business. The location quantities change while total stock stays the same. This does not promise a complete multi-outlet warehouse-management system.
Does a low-stock alert automatically order from a supplier?
No. Set the item reorder level and review stock and purchases. Enabled low-stock reminders can notify permitted workspace members; they do not place supplier orders or guarantee stock availability.
Does Dukanam work offline or convert boxes into pieces automatically?
Dukanam does not currently promise offline billing or automatic box-to-piece conversion. Choose a consistent item unit and test your internet connection, barcode scanner and receipt printer before switching.
